Well, that makes sense. You're only one side of the equation. He would have to be friendly in the way that you want and you're not sure if he is capable of that.

I don't know. It's vulnerable to say what you mean? I think gossiping and getting into other people's business is a way to pressure test your own personal values. Like, it's easier to say, "Wow, I can't believe So-n-So cheated on Blahblah" than it is to say, "It would hurt me immensely if the person I'm sharing a certain intimacy with were to share it with someone else." Just as an example.
